ride a triple Ram (26/39/49 x 11-26) and stay almost exclusively on
the 39 ring (but then I ride w/out a load). There is only one 30 yard
stretch on my normal routes where I need the 26 (coming off the top of
I-90 over lake WA).
Yeah, on the 7spd cog choice... They seem to go to a lot of trouble to have
only 9 distinct cogs for the 7spd FW line instead of 10. That 17-21 jump is
weird on the non-mega 13-32 7spd FW.

Excellent weather this year, not too hot, and a nice tailwind much of the

Seems to me it might be a matter of paint. Grant mentioned in that recent
interview that he was hoping to sell his new city bike for around $750,
unpainted. People seem to generally agree that it cost around $300 (retail) to
paint a bike. The Maxway Sam is $1000, so that makes perfect sense.

I'm planning a nomadic sojourn through New England in early October
with my mountain bike and my Riv. While this will obviously require
use of my vehicle to transport me to/from some of the great riding
places in VT, NH, ME and MA, I do hope expect a good portion of my

IIRC, the early(er) LLs were mostly canti brake as there weren't any new
production, dual pivot type calipers available back then. I suppose this is

I'd be interested in riding the Acadia part. I've ridden the carriage roads

Mounted, rode around the block, and removed. Other than that, brand new
wheel built on a used but very low mileage (under 100 miles) hub. Just had
it delivered last week, built by Rich Lesnik @ Rivendell. Nexus 7 with
coaster brake on a Velocity Dyad rim (possibly my favorite rim). I just
