Just to reinforce, I emailed Compass about this a few weeks ago and was assured
by that the weights are correct as listed. The current Barlow’s are even
heavier than the size below, if I remember correctly. If I were set on that
size I would go with the new Panaracer Gravel King in 38mm for

I fondly recall the odd timing of issues released, with the consequent "got

Don't know about brakes, but 44 on a 18-19 rim shouldn't be an issue. I had
50mm marathons on dyads (I think they are 19mm internal) on a Sam and there was
nothing close to an issue that came up. This was with Paul racers. I'd bet the
559's clear 44mm just fine.

Even better, just strap it (poke holes in original straps as needed)
directly to the rails of your Flite, Turbo, or San Marco: I've done that
with Carradices and Rivendell bags up to Camper, Hoss, and Sackville Medium
sizes, and carried 35 lb loads in them. This works better with the buckles
Aha! Thanks for this. Those titles bring back *old* memories!
Money making suggestion to RBW, no % taken: make a book out of best old

With the R559 brakes it looks like available height for the 44 Snoqualmie's
would be more of an issue than width.
My Marathon 35's measure 34.5mm wide X 36.5 high (60psi, front tire,
unloaded) on the Alexrims DM18 (18.4 inner rim width).
Has anyone mounted Snoqualmie's on a rim with an inner
You can run a toe strap through the loops to snug it up to the bottom of the

I have the 'original' version of the Banana bag, which hung from the saddle
rails. It looks like the new one is for saddles with loops only? That
would be a deal breaker for me, which is too bad because the blue might go
nicely with my next bike (custom, lugged but non-Riv). The toggles,
i'm looking to find Grant's thoughts on front loading the bike,
specifically his thoughts on carrying the weight on a rack top, or higher
than traditional low riders. I know he's written about this, but now going
through my readers, I can't find where. Anyone have a clue?

This post prompted me to look through my file of RR's to see how many I'm
missing. Turns out that when I first subscribed they sent me the next
issue in publication, #10, along with #'s 3 and 4, which they must've had
extras of laying around. So, I'm missing 1&2 and 5-9. Looking through

That’s a great bike. I already have a Quickbeam, and your bike tempted me.

I've had all three. Size would go XS, banana, S. sackville small isn't exactly
small, and the shape of it really utilizes space. I used to regularly get 2
takeout boxes in mine without hassle or jostling of the food. The banana is
smaller for sure, but the way space is used almost makes it not
