Just to update and validate many of the suggestions here. What works with a
11-50 10 speed cassette and Shimano 10 speed road bar end levers and a shadow
rear derailleur is...
Wolftooth goatlink + wolftooth tanpan + 5 extra links.
Many thanks all

Ash,
I have Dyads on my MIT AHH. It’s a nice, strong rim, and plenty wide to accept
the max rec. tire width (42) for the AHH.
If you have any concerns, talk to Rich!

Early MTBs used cut-down MA2 rims (13.5mm internal width) and ran 2" wide
tyres on them without problems. My touring bike has been running 38mm wide
tyres on MA2 rims for years - never had any problems with that - and at the
other end of the scale, I have some DT Swiss XM401 rims (22.5mm interna
Velocity has a 'optimal' tire width specified for their rims.
A23: 23mm - 35mm
Atlas: 28mm - 45mm
Cliffhanger: 45mm - 65mm
and so forth.
What's the effect when the tire is in outside of that range?
For instance, what type issues or degradation in riding experience might I
face if I mount 47mm
That chainring is HUUUGE!!! This paint job would match my 62 Ram
perfectly...

I have the large rear Super C pair, and I run them up front often. The
side pocket is huge, perfect for a camping pad or small sleeping bag

Sean, thanks for the reply.
Q: Since you use the Universal front bags: In your estimation would I be able
to fit a 3-ring binder or a few of them in there? I did not get them because it
looks like they taper down pretty narrow (6” wide by my rough calculation)
at the bottom. And they don’t look
Hi John,
I use Super C's on a daily basis and can't "wax" on enough about them (get
it? :) I have both the mini/universal front panniers and the rear (large)
panniers. These bags are bomb proof, look great with wear, and keep the
rain out. I have never had a problem with losing anything out of
Wow this is a fantastic deal and I'm not one apt to comment on others price!
The rambo is a GREAT bike. Way undervalued. Built by Toyo in Japan. I have a 58
and will not likely ever sell it. For road riding it's a blast really hits the
bulls eye between sporty / spirited and comfortable. Dont wo
Ray and Ash,
I found you suggestion and appreciation of said suggestion refreshing. Also
benefited myself.
No ideal why some of their (Riv’s) correspondence lands in my inbox and some
ends in Spam.
I will say I put Rivendell’s customer service in the top 1% of all businesses.
Nuff said.

I think Sora R3000 shifters pull a different amount of cable than older
Shimano 9 speed systems, so be aware of this as you're selecting shifters
and derailleurs (different in the front too).

To all who helped elucidate me: Thank You!
I struggled with the choice, but in the end ordered a set of Super C Rear
bags from SJS.
Ride with the wind at your backs.

I just put my Jones bars on my Hunqapillar this weeken
d but due to -7 degree windchill, I haven't gotten to ride it yet. Also,
the cold weather is keeping the alcohol I used to install the grips from
evaporating.

Morning all, final bump. $1,000 + shipping CONUS. I'm not riding it.
Someone needs to.
Happy Monday!

Calling Riv is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are going
to get. I have called and Grant answers the phone and I have also called
and gotten someone that was condescending and borderline rude. I still buy
bikes (or more correctly frames) and parts from them, 12 at last count
(
I can vouch for the newer Sora shifters, they are really nice, same feel as
the fancy ones. I have been using a Sora 9speed set on my gravel/mud bike
for 3 seasons, I am happy with them. Maybe more so than an older fancier
pair that have already been to the rodeo.

Well , no need now to let me know if you are sitting on a 55 silver
appaloosa frameset you'd like to sell.
Rivelo still had a new one in stock and I trepidatiously snagged it up
Looking forward to building up a new tourer. I'm sure I'll have some
questions for the list when I get it.

I purchased, own and ride a Rivendell bike. So I am a customer of
Rivendell. What else would you call it? A supporter?
In terms of my contribution to this thread, it was not a complaint, rather
just sharing my personal experiences. Absolutely it did not detract from me
