I'm building up an Appaloosa, and just fitted some Deore XT M780 v-brakes
that I had. At the front, the brake blocks are at about the mid-point of
the adjustment slot on the caliper, and the cable run between the arms at
the top just clears the arch of the fender when it is mounted to give

I posted this WTB awhile back but thought I’d try again. I’d prefer just a
frameset, but might consider a complete. Can have plenty of beauage or be
closer to new.
Anyone will a 63cm Roadeo thinking of selling?

Hi all,
The Albatross bars are out of stock at Rivendell. I was hoping to use them
on a HHH build. Is there anyone in the San Francisco Bay Area with some up
for grabs? I prefer the aluminum but am open to the steel version as well.
I have some h'bars for trade, Nitto B115, Nitto promenade (the
Thanks, both, for the suggestions. That's the first I've heard of Frost

Patrick - that's great to know about waterproofing! I was eyeing a BagBoy
for my commute--if I ever commute again ;)--and that may seal the deal.

I have a VO Drillium crank, a VO Gran Cru 50.4 BCD crank with VO single
chainring and a Sun XCD crank with the same VO single chainring. My only
complaint is that the chainrings are only polished on one side, the
backside of the chainrings are not polished at all - kind of a very fine

Depends if you want additional ankle clearance on your crank. The Sugino XD
arms flare out, whereas I don't think the VO arms do.

Hi Alan,
I used a 6-speed Suntour freewheel and removed the outer 2 cogs. The
remaining were threaded onto the upper portion of the freewheel body and
stayed in place by design. So, as simple as removing the outer two cogs -
just follow any instructions on Suntour freewheel disassembly.

Hi Corwin
I'm going to try to find a link to that. Or just write Paul, he's pretty
responsive. :)
Never using lube would be the holy grail for me. I hate the gunk.

Hi,
Looked at the fotos on Instagram and someone asked about the 6 speed FW
with 2 cogs removed, mounted onto a SS/fixed hub. I'm very interested in
doing the same thing. Can you give details, please?
Thanks,

As a former Austinite myself it was a short trim down memory lane!
Nice bike too!
I'm afraid I can't stomach Austin these days; I live there at it's peak in the
late 70s, early 80s so going there now is just sort of depressing.
Still, OK to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there.

Small shop, their Ursa Minor is pretty compact and comes in a variety of

They make a smaller bag as well that's pretty basic, but might suit your needs.
