I have done the conversion from my 56cm Atlantis. I think it works
well and have kept the bike that way. The Tektro Oryx brakes are the
lowest-cost canti brake that I know will have enough upward pad travel
to meet a 584 rim, and that is what I started with. I later converted
the bike to a linear brake using Paul Components Moto-Bmx brake sets,
which are both lower profile, even more adjustable and more powerful.
They do need a long pull brake lever, so MTB levers or the DiaCompe
long-pull drop bar levers would be needed (I am not a fan of travel
agents for braking.) I am running a flat bar so have gone with Paul
Love 2.5 levers and Paul Thumbies shifter mounts. Overall, I prefer
the bike with 650B wheels.
