[RBW] FS/FT Brooks C67

2022-01-27 Thread Christine Rose
Looking to sell or trade a nearly new Brooks C67. I've only ridden it maybe 50 miles. My lady thighs are just too large for the nose of this saddle. It was fraying my leggings very quickly! For trade I'm looking for a C19, carved or not. For purchase $100 shipped to the lower 48. Christine in De

My favourite bags for commuting are from Po Campo. https://www.pocampo.com They make very cute and functional bags for commuters. I use one of their backpack/pannier models for normal commutes. It is super quick to use is as a pannier on my rear rack, and then put it into backpack mode to walk i

2022-02-10 Thread Christine Rose
I want my bicycles to be as silent as possible. I don't get annoyed with other people's loud hubs, because it's only in passing, I don't have to hear it all the time. The stock Formula hub on my Fuji makes the Deore on my Clem sound loud! Silence is golden, Christine On Wednesday, February 9, 2

Leah, I think that Clem needs some studded tyres. Then you would only have to look longingly at your Platypuses in January/February! Riding on quiet snow packed streets is an absolute joy, feels like I'm cheating, being out there on two wheels in the winter, it is exhilarating! Christine in Denv

[RBW] Re: Dealing with wind

2022-03-15 Thread Christine Rose
Maybe this is heresy here, but I ride my ebike on windy days. Hauling groceries uphill into the wind is doable for me, but I'm absolutely miserable on my Clem when I do it. I can't haul as much on my ebike, but putting it into turbo on those days puts me into the best of moods! Christine in Denv

2022-04-02 Thread Christine Rose
Mine would be a custom Clem. Painted a sparkly light pink with that pearlescent look, built up with all Silver components. And it would have custom decals with her proper Clementine name, no more Smith Jr! Oh and definitely a different head badge, something colourful and pretty, the Clem badge

Haha Eric, I love the effort you put into those pics! Your cape looks so light, how many grams is it? Bet is doesn't breathe very well though 😹 On Friday, April 1, 2022 at 5:41:21 PM UTC-6 eric...@gmail.com wrote: > I've been eager to upgrade my synthetic cycling cape, bummed to miss out > on t

Ooh Drew, your "one bike" sounds dreamy! Have you seen Nua Bikes? They make bikes just as you describe. I've been lusting after one of those for so long. They will even do a titanium fork if that's what you want. But like you, waiting on the lottery before I can import one. Christine On Monday,

I just looked at the last Sackville bag I purchased. It's probably over a year old by now, and it says Made in USA. But I like the hecho. Fits right in with Rivendell's quirkiness! Christine in Florida On Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at 8:11:07 AM UTC-4 Marty Gierke, Stewartstown PA wrote: > I've a

I use a Surly 8-Pack rack with a basket attached with several velcro straps. I love the rack, very sturdy, attaches to my fork crown and mid-fork eyelets, so it has kinda a minimal look. And it's not very expensive. It's on my Clem, and when it had the stock Bosco bars, the steering would be sl

In 2017, I was getting ready to do my first tour. And I was reading nearly everything my library had related to bicycles in preparation. That's when I found Grant's "Just Ride" book. I had never heard of Rivendell before then. That book really clicked with me. So much so, that I put off my tour
