Since no one has mentioned it, have you tried loosening the B-screw on the
rear derailleur? Loosening the B-screw moves the derailleur arm forward,
which lets the chain wrap more around your cogs.
Messing with the B-screw on friction drivetrains has gotten me extra life
out of some really wo
If you feel like riding up a big hill while you are in the San Francisco
area, I recommend Hawk Hill. It's just on the Marin side of the Golden
Gate Bridge, and it follows the cost for about a mile and a half (all of
which is uphill). The payoff is a great view of the bridge and San
Francisco
I second The Bica recommendation. It's my home away from home.
