I have a similar experience. I currently ride a 59cm Romulus, and in the 80s

This is interesting. I use the Tektro BM 57s on my Romulus, and the pads
end up at the bottom of the slot just like in the pictures of the Roadeo.
Looks like fenders would be a pretty tight fit with the Jack Browns, though.

I've done that before. It's not too bad, if you are indeed short on
space. You can't really use it for working on the bottom bracket or
headset. And you might get tired of squatting low to do stuff. But I
did that for years when I lived in a small apartment.
