I have weighed an aluminum version of the fender-mount on a 1947 Alex
Singer (shown in our book 'The Golden Age of Handbuilt Bicycle'), and
it weighed just 134 g, less than a third of the Breezer rack.

larger tires might be nice on some very rough roads, but you run out
of room if you want a narrow crank tread (Q factor).

tire wider than 30 mm, so there is no perceived need
for wider 700C tires. If you want wider tires, Grand Bois prefers 650B
wheels, just like most of the French constructeurs did. For the same
reason, there won't be Grand Bois 27 tires - that size is virtually
unknown in Japan.
