My wife keeps hinting that she would like a bike at some point, not
anything fancy and relatively inexpensive, the Starling has been #1 on my
list of frames to get when she finally decides to go for it and let me
build it up for her.
This is good inspiration for that, nice build.

Update:
*SOLD* Paul Mini Motos, silver (unpolished), full bike's worth $135
Cambium C17 Natural - taken on two short test rides, just didn't work for
me. Tiny chain grease smudge on it $110
Nitto Albatross bar, Cro-Mo, 55cm $40
*PENDING* Silver Shifters, Bar-end $65
*SOLD* Tektro CR720
I've got a few things for sale, everything is pretty lightly used, probably
no more than 500 miles on anything, if that.

Definitely a tulip tree. One of the largest trees you'll find east of the
Mississippi. Fairly easy to spot with the unique leaves, silvery bark, and
how they tend to grow so perfectly straight. Sometimes the flowers go
unnoticed, though.

I saw the Potluck rack on the Box Dog Bikes webstore so it looks like
they've got them in stock there.
As far as the Pass & Stow i'm glad to see all the praise, I've been wanting
to get one but I just haven't pulled the trigger yet.

I'm in Columbus also, although I'm not an actual Riv owner either.
There's another Roll right next door to a Trek store in Upper Arlington, I
will often go to these just because they're closer to me. Most Rivish place
I've been to is probably Paradise Garage.

Really cool! I'd have to say the Legolas one is my favorite, just something
about that shield shape.

In the sci-fi & fantasy realm I would highly recommend anything by Jack
Vance. Most of his novels are short.
For adventure Jim Corbett wrote a few books detailing his hunting of
man-eating tigers and leopards in India that are quite good.

Don't know if I can help much as I've got a schmidt hub on my bike that
uses the spade connectors. It kind of looks like those shutter connectors
might work better with solid copper wire, but of course that would probably
be stiff and a pain to deal with.
Who built up your wheel? Just
I have Schwalbe Marathon 47's with Paul mini-motos, the straddle wire
clears the tires (barely), but couldn't possibly clear any kind of fender.

If you've got the tools bottom brackets and cranksets are pretty simple,
nothing really to mess up there. Derailers are not that complicated either,
it's basically about setting the limit screws to keep the chain from going
where it's not supposed to. Headsets only get slightly complicated when
I actually like the color they've got on it now.
Riv always posts the tiniest pictures, makes it hard to discern details.
I would buy a frame without bottle mounts if it cut down the price, but I
imagine it probably doesn't make too much of a difference.

One of the colored ones Riv sold a while back. The powdercoat is scratched
a bit from shifter mounts, especially on the left side there (see pic).
$100 shipped.
Or trade for a Tallux CroMo Albatross?
I still have the two stems (4 11), rack (5), R200 levers (6), and the
brakes (9). Offers welcome.
Oh, and I lowered the price on the Kogswell frame to $300 shipped.
