The AdventureCorps Death Valley ride was Saturday, and Dustin and our friend Jacek and I drove up to participate. I rode a mere 120 while Dustin and Jacek conquered the double. A new baby kept me off the bike for longer than I'd wish during training time... but I'm emboldened for next year.
The ride was remarkable, taking us generally from Furnace Creek up to Scottys Castle and beyond into Nevada and back -- and administered very well. Death Valley is a striking place. There was great camaraderie among the riders and there seemed to be a large cohort who reveled in the suffering. Besides Dustin's Kirk and my Romulus, another Romulus and a Heron rounded out the Bobish bicycles. Our friend Bradley rode a nice 80s Miyata road bike. I did see a lovely Waterford fixie, and another fellow rode a red Soma Rush fixie for his fixed triple crown. Most folks were are well appointed MCRBs. I didn't take many photos, and had a little p&s, but here they are: http://www.flickr.com/photos/25671...@n02/sets/72157622538208323/ Wonder how the Orange County Riv & Friends ride went...
