It's been a while since I posted. Which could mean two things. One; I broke my camera. or Two; I haven't had anything great to write and reflect on.
Well two of those two things are right. (Camera's viewfinder is broken, in the process of getting a new camera, if I get a new camera.) Until today. Indian summer in the Bay Area with temps up to 95+ inland. Wilson. Nick and Johan all braved the hot weather for some cool costal riding. One way to make the start of the ride interesting is to ride with a running marathon that was going on to the bridge. Fun trying to dodge and find alternative routes to getting to the same place. Felt kind of like riding with zombies which I guess foreshadowed how we were going to feel for the rest of the day. First flat was from Wilson who had a galvanized roofing nail unbend through tire, tube and rim. Nothing electrical tape and extra tube couldn't fixed. Hot climbing over 8 miles spread the group up a bit and the only cool down was this magically springs near the top. Seriously it's magic it's always flowing, eh trickling. But on this hot day it was magical. With only half of the ride over, the effects of the Mr.Sun had us baked and feeling like zombies. We quickly sprung into action emergency burger mode. Forgo all the "extra milage" to the fastest burger place. Always a good plan. Second flat went to Nick, third and fourth flat went to Jonah. Nick rode ahead due to dinner plans; Wilson, Jonah and I went to grind that last bit of dirt before calling it quits for burgers. Best burger ever. Seriously. I've had this burger plenty of times on rides harder or similar. Today was amazing. Maybe it was great company, or wonderful weather or maybe I was going through heat exhaustion. But I am convince that burgers solve everything in life.
