I'm looking for mid-weight (typical winter jersey weight) sweater and vest
for mid-layering in cold weather; something to wear over a jersey and, if
need be, under a shell. I'm looking in both cases for designs with high,
zipped or buttoned necks, like the Rivendell Wooly Warm vest and its
long-sleeved cousin.

Wool, of course; and cut trim but not tight (this rules out just getting
another winter jersey in a large size), and long. No need for pockets.

Neutral, medium to dark colors.

Anyone?

Thanks, Patrick

PS: Anecdote about what a good tailor can do for one's riding pants. A
couple of year ago I bought 2 pr of Endura riding pants from an online
source in Spain; good price: $140 each, a considerable markdown. I ordered
Large per their sizing chart.

Alas, the stupid things were cut in hipster jeans style, that is, with very
low waist, even though the rear was "cut for cycling and did rise higher
than the (absurdly low) front. And of course, though the size charge said
that the waist sizes they would fit included 34, in fact they must have
been 38s.

I had them altered by a tailor who did a sh*t job, but just recently took
them in to a new tailor shop nearby. The young man did something to the
waist that makes them fit perfectly -- albeit too low, still. He also
cleaned up the work done by the earlier tailor. But now 90+/100 instead of
70/100. I left pr #2 for the same treatment and wore pr #1 today for a nice
early-winter ride (40 high, windy, damp).
