I currently have a Nitto M18 front rack and ordered the Sackville TrunkSack
Large to mount in front of the bike. Has anyone ever mounted this bag on
their front rack, and if so what rack and method did you use to secure the
bag?
I ordered the Deluxe Porteur Rack (see liink below) to better

Daniel-
The Trunk Sacks are designed to fit perfectly on specific Nitto racks. The
snap-straps and tombstone attachment works great on those racks, and very
poorly on just about any other.
The Large Trunk Sack (5.25" x 11.75") won't fit very well on a Nitto mini
front rack (M18, M1, M12, etc).
Thanks for the feedback. I guess I didn't realize that the R14 I have now
as my rear rack as a front rack. If that is the case then I should be good
to go except for the exception of not having the tombstone. I canceled my
order for the Soma Porteur rack.
Thanks again,

The tombstone version of the R14 was optimal for the large trunk sack and for
the large saddle sack.
The non-tombstone version is better as a saddlebag support for other
saddlebags, and often is preferable for a rear basket.
Maybe you should find someone with the tombstone version to trade wi
I didn't realize they made a Nitto R14 with a tombstone. I found one online
(see link below) and ordered it. I plan on buying the wife a Riv bike later
this year and can just keep the R14 I have now with no tombstone for her
bike.

Dan, are you sure the rack you ordered has the tombstone? The link you
provided includes this sentence: This product does not come with the
vertical loop "backstop". That would be the tombstone. If you haven't
already, you might want to double check with bikemania.

I was alerted to that yesterday and contacted them to confirm the rack does
NOT have the tombstone and canceled my order. Thanks for the heads up.

Bikemaniabiz is not a hugely reliably vendor. They don't maintain
inventory - order, receive, repackage and ship.

Dan,
FWIW i used that bag on an R14 without the tombstone and it was fine, a
little floppy if the bag was empty. My plan was always to make a stiffener
for it but never got around to it before selling the bag.
