Justin, I don't think you can unless you got creative. I can do a modified front fender as Paul gives about 1/2 in of vertical clearance. The Tektro 559 I have on the back will be harder with about less than 1/4 in of vertical clearance. I will most likely try to cut the rear fender up, and try

My Sam is recent, purchased in May. Blue 51. The geo chart for my Sam gives 53 as the space between chainstay crimps. With Surly Knards, I see at least 3-4mm on either side, maybe more. The Maxxis Pace supposedly* fits a bit smaller than listed width, at least on something like my 19mm inner-wi

Phil, Interesting indeed. My wife's Sam is a 52, I take it yours was from after the size change? Perhaps some minor changes were made that increased the clearance. If the clearance has changed, the vintage of the Sam that Zach is thinking of may be significant. Regards Ted On Thursday, Decemb

Ted, interesting. I just recently had the newest Sam sage green with Paul Racers. Able to fit Rock N Roads with SKS fenders in the rear no problem. Had to modify the front fender to fit. Of course, I don't have it anymore and swapped to Cheviot and San Marcos. -Phil On Thursday, December 24,

If you insist, but I just looked at my wife's Sam with FattyRumpkins and it sure looks like there is more space between the rear tire and the brake than there is between the tire and the chainstays. On Thursday, December 24, 2015 at 9:48:45 AM UTC-8, Philip Kim wrote: > > I can't remember the ti

I can't remember the tire clearance the Sam frame had. But both the Sam and Cheviot tire clearance is limited by the brakes. On Thursday, December 24, 2015 at 12:35:33 PM UTC-5, ted wrote: > > The charts may be a bit suspect as clearance for some models has changed > over time, but according to

The charts may be a bit suspect as clearance for some models has changed over time, but according to the RBW geometry charts the Cheviot's max tire is 5mm larger than the Sam's. Though the brakes may be the same the tightest spot for tire clearance is often the chainstays and I think the Chevio

zach, let me take some pictures to make sure. but the front with paul racers probably has about 3mm or so on each side. probably 2mm on each side for tektro 559s. fenders will definitely not fit unless you modified them somehow or used raceblade types. On Thursday, December 24, 2015 at 11:45:

Philip, How much room would you say you have with those Switchbacks? Surlyprof, I'd love if they made 650B Smart Sam's in 45. As it is, I would prefer something just a bit bigger than the R'n'Rs, if I can. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners

During the summer I change the commuter wheels on the canti-Hillborne over to 45 Smart Sams. They are a blast to ride. Bouncy! A couple of caveats: (1) no fenders... that's probably obvious and (2) they rub on the Pletscher double kickstand when I lean hard on the pedals. There was enough c

Zach, switched my Hillborne and got a Cheviot which i believe have the same clearances. Currently riding Switchback Hills and it fits. The Paul racer up front has a little more than the Tektro 559's I have in the back. Would also like to know if something like Smart Sams can fit.Otherwise, I g
