I use my Betty for commuting also. The step-through really helps when I try to maneuver her around to hit crosswalk signals when needed (not all our lights are smart. I notice people are nicer to me when I ride Betty and wear my Nutcase watermelon helmet. They're not as nice when I ride my red

I think anything that humanizes you helps. There have been a number of observations ( not sure they are actual studies) that one of the contributing elements to driver-on-driver hostility is the anonymity of the interaction. As a cyclist, anything that undermines a driver from anonymizing you
