Justin, The CX-50's are identical in geometry to CX-70's as best as I can tell. Any differences are minor and likely do not make for any difference in performance. The actual differences comes down to finish and stock pads, 70's come with OK pads in shoes and 50's come with OK bare pads. I pref

I used these brakes on a loaded tour through the Washington Cascades this summer and swapped the front pads only for black Kool Stop pads. Honestly, I didn't notice a huge difference. I still have stock Shimano pads in the rear and braking is great. I haven't used them at all in the rain though.

I think a lot what is good with CX70's are the yoke cable automatically sets the correct geometry. For that reason, I liked them over the Paul Touring cantis. Mine stopped on a dime, but I moved to the Dia Compe 980's that Riv sells. Looks nice, but took me a couple of weeks of riding and fiddl
