Since I've never eaten dinner in San Clemente, I'll defer to David's
experience. Sonny's looks good to me. Agree with Mike that Pizza Port is
great beer but the food is typical tourist.

Re. locks: All the places I can think of have parking w/in eyesight
out front. I'll bring a cable lock which can lock three or four bikes
together. If a few other bring the same, we should be able to lock all

I can make camp, if there's room. I'll be leaving work at USD around 3
(shhh) and riding up the 60 or so miles to the camp site. There will be
whiskey.

Do you think I need to mess with a tent? I've slept @ Doheny
campground w/ no bug problems, but this is a little inland. I don't
worry about varmints or reptiles, just don't want to get tore up by
mosquitoes. Maybe just bring some some bug spray and hope for the
best???

Any friend of Manny's is our friend. You will make 11 if my count is
correct. 8 with Esteban, two grandfathered in with David Estes, and you.
The camp limit is for 8 but I'm good with 11. Does anyone else have any
thoughts on this? Doug?

At 11 a second site seems a good idea, if we can get one. In the past,
we've gotten 2 sites (adjacent) and usually had 12-15 campers.
Locks: I always carry a lock for such situations. As David points out, we
can lash several together. Few thieves can lift 3-4 Rivendells at once.
Tent:
I'd think we'd make nice with the Rangers if we had two sites. I'm not sure
about San Mateo but some State Campgrounds are picky about that.
Of course we can just wing it if there are empty sites and pay for an extra

San Clemente State Beach has a pretty much unlimited HB site: It's the
median between the two main one way roads. Not pretty, but gets the
job done.
I've decided to go tentless. That's just how I roll.
