should be able to pull them off while mounted to the bar unless it's an old
non-aero lever. what model levers are you using?

I've yet to come across it. And if the old hoods are well and truly shot,
just cut 'em off.

My levers are very old gran-compe aero. Forcing the hoods off and on was a
bit difficult but went ok.
I'm glad I didn't have to disrupt the bar wrap etc.

You still wouldn't need to remove them from the bar if they were non aero
levers. You would however need to disconnect the cable and housing.

assuming you disconnect the cable with the former?

I think because the levers have to be pointy, and at least the Campy levers
are thinner at t
I've installed Campy style non-aero levers both ways - from the clamp end
first, as well as over the lever first.
But if you're wrapped right, shouldn't be anything to take the sleeved
mounting nut from your clamp bolt without removing the clamp or affecting
the wrap.
