I have actually seen some impressive results with dying various vinyl, silicone, and plastics using Rit brand fabric dye. Mainly I've seen it used in the vinyl toy and G-shock watch collector circles. Although nearly all the examples I've seen have started with clear or white items. I do remember one guy who started with a bright yellow G-shock and successfully dyed it to a dark olive green. I think Casio uses a resin compound for their straps that could be more accepting of the dye? I do know they use a boiling process to cook the color in and often go several rounds.
My guess is, even if you could get the vinyl to accept some color, it would come out some muddy variant of the goal. Rit dyes are not known for superior UV colorfastness. That said, it could be frustrating experiment that would severely decrease any resale value. Might be safer to sell second hand and reinvest in the one you want. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group.
