Try V-brakes. Much better power than Cantis and you don't have to spend
many hundred$/thousands$ to modify the frame!

(Paul Comp) brake per bike, on the front now, so the rear rim wears really
well! Grin. I got 3-4 years out of my front rim on the Hunqapillar, and that
includes a fair bit of bikepacking with loaded steep single track
Patrick, how many miles do rims last you in those conditions (and what
model of rims)?
