I've got a 40/26 on my 56 single top tube Sam. I had been running it with a wide range (11/34) 9 speed cassette and bar end shifters, which worked fine. That set up gave me nearly the same range as the triple it replaced, with almost no need to shift up front. I liked the simplicity so much tha
