I just watched the video again and didn't hear the cyclist banging on
the side of the van. I guess if I was being crowded off the road by a
panel van (with the driver on the ride side of the vehicle) I'd
certainly be likely to try to get the driver's attention in any way
practical. I don't think

Even if he did bang on the van, what of it? The van was forcing him
into road barricades. Are you saying you would not expect a car to
sound its horn in that situation?
