I like the idea of a once over with a wire brush. Gets the debris off. I keep a container of 40 wt (or higher) motor oil in the garage and use an old toothbrush to dress the chain. Works well. You do want much oil on the chain. Just enough to keep rust at bay. Pay particular attention to the

I use a smal wisk broom to knock loose any snow. If there is ice accumulated in the derailers, brakes or cogs, I will spray them lightly with windshield wiper fluid and wipe off the excess. You can follow that with some WD-40 to drive the moisture away and keep the chain nice and oily with wh

When your bike is caked with slush and ice, and you are working outside, sometimes the only thing to do is get a large bucket of hot water and douse the bike. It's instantly clean and clear to receive lubrication. Shake off the water and hit it with some Chain-L. Maybe not the most responsible

Dear Patrick, No need to wire-brush anything. If you've got a place for the bike to melt off and dry, then a 1. pre-season frame waxing (fall); 2.a knock off the worst of the road lime before going inside; 2.b a regular quick rinse, preferably with warm water, once all the crud has fallen off
