Back when I worked at a shop in Redmond Washington we had a customer who had
done all his research on the internet about all the parts he wanted for his
bike. We ordered all the stuff & built it up according to his specs including,
you guessed it, Chris King hubs. When he picked up his bike and

Thanks for the link.
That is rediculous.
I could not ride with that noise.
Coasting is quiet business.
Maybe it could work for pro racers to make them sound more intimidating to
their opponents.

So she passed you while coasting? That's not embarrassing. I've been passed
by trail runners on a couple occasions.

Fifteen years in, the buzz diminishes quite a bit. My next hub is an Onyx.

Anyone got a sound clip of the CK hub buzzing?
Once a rider passed me and their hub sounded like a Vibraslap.

The last time I've seen the King/Bontrager hubs on ebay, they were hundreds
of dollars. The 1999 set I have on the Bontrager Privateer are 24/28 hole
hubs. The main difference between the Bontrager version and the Classic
Kings of the era were that the Bontrager version has beefed-up flanges to

Oops, I think I sent a link to the disc hubs. You can navigate to the
non-disc hubs but I'm not sure if they have a 135 non-disc. Could be a
semi-custom option if you call them.

Alex,
Have you looked into Industry nine hubs:
https://industrynine.com/torch-classic-road-hubs/classic-j-bend-road-cx-disc-hubs
I have a non-disc pair of these classic hubs on my road bike and they have
the familiar roar of a Chris king. Also, they're MUSA in Asheville, NC and
look great.

virgil is onto the right idea, as i have a set of CK hubs on 26" rims that
i treated myself too many years ago. i should sell them but can't seem to
let go!
the buzzing is way over the top, but like dave says, has no equal!

there are also some older bontrager branded hubs (from early 90s 26"
wheelsets) that are actually chris king. you can tell just by looking at
the hubshell and some sellers list this. might try looking for that, too.

I don't but I'd check ebay for old MTB wheels. I have exactly what you're
in search of laced to a 26" rim that I found on ebay for $75 shipped. It
was pretty much new. No one seems to be interested in 26" rim brake wheels
or has the foresight to delace one I suppose.
