$70 for a pair of nylon shorts! I know they are great and own several pair of

I have to laugh at the contrasting crotch furor. Tell y'all what: wear
khaki cutoffs in hot, sweaty weather on a black saddle. You'll have a

Still, I'd not pay *money* for a startlingly contrasting crotch gusset.

My preference is for the same colors in tan/tan, grey/grey, blue/blue, or
even black/black. But, I caved and ordered two pair of these grey/blue
because I have no other MUSA shorts and there is risk a consistent and/or
preferred color may not be available in the future. Besides, the grey/blue

I am going to retake my take on the color thing, since "normal" means

I ordered 2 pair as my guess is that they won't be offered that frequently

Since the tide seems to be moving towards "no contrasting gusset", I'll put
in the contrary vote and say I DO actually like the contrasting color
schemes. I have grey/blue and butterscotch/olive. I can see why some don't
like it, and I hope that Riv offers some "solid" color schemes. But I do

The color thing I too always found to be completely contrary to the whole

anyone would consider everyday clothing with such contrasting crotch

I'll bet they've never heard this contrastive crotch color conundrum before.
Someone on the design team thought it was a good idea and it went forward. With

The only "problem" with the MUSA shorts I have
I can't imagine anyone really wanting or needing a colored crotch, but it seems

Other than black Riv has done olive green w/o the contrasting gusset. The
latest offering has the boldest color contrast I can recall.

I agree. I mentioned on another thread I don't use my butterscotch/olive
green MUSA pants very often because of this. And every time I went for the
black/black they were sold out. For a company that stresses riding in
"regular" clothes, this detail is indeed inexplicable. We can get the

I think the shorter shorts are a good idea, but ugh... I've never liked
mesh pockets for shorts, they invariably rip or tear and wear out long
before fabric pockets do. I'm tempted, but have to factor in some sewing
machine time to replace the pockets.
