Bill, Jim's advice is good; sounds more sophisticated than my solution and probably best to try his first. I had one (of several) single bolt Nitto seatposts become a chronic slipper. I ended up lightly scuffing (took the shine off) both sides of the smooth surface that the lower clamp rides

The stock Hillborne seatpost is not a Nitto. But a copy of one. Besides Jim's good suggestions, will add you might want to take a piece of medium grit sandpaper and slightly roughen up the parts of the post where the lower clamp and post itself meet. At the worst, your local bike shop would

Thanks for the tips. Maybe I am just missing something fundamental but I *still* can't get the seat to hold against even hand pressure on the seat, after scuffing the post and using a pair of vice-grips as a lever arm to extend the length of my Allen wrench. When I explained the advice above to

Often that clamp will slip if the convex washer isn't perfectly aligned in the recessed part of the post. I'd suggest greasing the bolt, making sure everything lines up, and try again. If that doesn't work, try a different post. I suggest a Kalloy Laprade. On Oct 26, 1:49 pm, grib

Try turning the toothed piece 180 degrees. Looking at mine the arc in the little toothed piece is not even. One side is thinner than the other. This might work on the forward curve of the seatpost. If that still doesn't work, will second Jim Thill's suggestion. Kalloy post. Have one on
