Like the comment said, it's a custom Riv, not an Atlantis. You can
just pick out part of the "R" on the downtube. This was written about
in the Rivendell Reader a while back, apparently Curt Goodrich made
custom Rivs for Mr. & Mrs. Carter.

The Carter bikes were built by Joe Starck and painted by Joe Bell.

Wouldn't be surprised if the Specialized were his "bad weather" bike.
Doubt he would have gotten rid of the RIvendell. More likely, as has
been said, he has multiple bikes, and the Globe was replacing a
different bike.
