Lum and everyone else, read this thread as it will answer most questions about
the efficacy of the S system . In particular the replies from "TandemGeek" .

D had his Romulus coupled and Riv handled the work. It was a long time ago
so details fade...I think it was a clearance or deal from from there, it
was done prior to shipping. You'd need at minimum some paint work done
around the area of the couplers. I've seen a couple Serotta frames that
why would you want to cut up, couple, and throw a gorgeous lugged Riv in a
travel suitcase?
Doug Curtlo does custom coupled steel with single color powder at a great
price. tigged or filleted with powder makes more sense for the utility of a
travel bike.

Hi Marc,
I had actually looked at the S site and saw that Rivendell was listed as
an S builder. The more I thought about it, the more it made sense as I
know Waterford built bikes can be spec'ed with couplers and certainly the
customs.
That said, the fine print in one of the charts said
Bob, S lists Rivendell on a list of frame builders that install S
couplings. Check it out if you like: http://sandsmachine.com.

Thanks Karl! Good to know, well, maybe good to know... :>) If/when I
call to ask about such things, I will find my way to Vince.

Bob,
Rivendell can do it! I looked at buying a used frame on the list versus a
new one built with couplers. I talked to Vince about it a few months ago.
