I put my Snoqualmie Pass tires on and will go on a ride into the wild with them
on Sunday. The most difficult part is putting the little metal ends into the
plug on my dyno hub. Great lessons to learn.

I've got a orange, 56 canti-Sam. I can use up to a 45 Smart Sam tire
without fenders. They occasionally rubbed a double kickstand if I pedaled
hard so I swapped it for a single and no problems. I still had clearance
at the chainstays. With fenders I use the 38 Barlow Pass and 40

Schwalbe Marathons, too. I'm not sure about sidepull Sams, though.

My Snoqualmie Pass tires are just short of 44mm wide, so they will fit your
Sam without fenders. The Barlow Pass tires are almost as wide, and might
fit under fenders later in the season.

Am running Schwalbe Marathon Supremes 700x40 with fenders on my Sam.
Tires measure 39 actual on Salsa Delgado rims.
Been running those tires since I got the bike. A beautiful match, in
my opinion.
