I don't know about travel but the main issue with the silver pods is the raised square is at a slightly different angle than a shimano pod. This means that the end of the lever points towards the rear hub (not straight down) in down position and points towards the sky in the up position. It all

Well I answered my own question - it works! I filed down the spacers and the semi-circular raised section in the pod and everything mounts up nicely and I have all 10 clicks from the shifter without further mods. Looks like this will work nicely!
