I would add that if the creak stops after you tighten the peddles, you
should take them off and relubricate them with a heavy grease.

I have a newish standard B-17 that creaks...guess I will have to live with
it..using same 27.0 mm Campy record setapost on my X0-1.If such a thing as
a 27.0mm Nitto S-83 was available I'd be all over it...literally and

Regarding the bottom bracket creak that drives you nuts...I u
I just had that problem. I tightened the BB and cranks = gone.

I was really hoping to learn about resolution of the 1xCrank-R creek. I
guess we have a sit bone priority.

I have to say again that I ride in NYC so its only on rides around 1am
(when its actually pleasant to ride here) that I hear it. The rest of the
time its pretty much drowned out by NYC noise. I would consider a wider
plastic saddle for my grocery getter.

You can actually get quality and comfort outside of leather. Really! I like
the comfort and looks of leather saddles but I just got tired of
the freakin' squeaking. Over the course of several years, I switched out
two Brookses (?) and a Selle Anatomica with three WTB Pure V's and I'm very
happy wit
My regular ol' B17 creaks at the nose bolt, took a while to diagnose it,
now that I know what it is, and that it isn't a safety item, I don't even
hear it any more. May still shoot some penetrating oil of some flavor in
there.

I could just replace my bike with a couch and not have any bike related
issues. Nah, I will go for quality and comfort over perceived ease of use.

I would like to once again offer up my sure-fire solution to simultaneously
fix all creaking in a Brooks (or any leather) saddle once and for all AND
permanently and completely eliminate all saddle maintenance. Simply remove
the Brooks saddle and replace it with a high-quality plastic and vinyl one
I just pretend, with the Brooks creak, that I'm an old cowhand from the Rio
Grande

On our Brooks Flyer saddles (mine and hers) I spray a little Boeshield at
the top and bottom of the spring where it is bolted to the rails, and a
little bit on the nose bolt.
I also apply a thin layer of grease to the rails before tighting down the
seat post clamp. Pretty much everywhere metal

Anybody have any recommendations on dealing with the creak in the sprung
saddle? This is driving my wife crazy. I tried boeshield, no luck.

don't forget pedals - my buddy stopped in a ride 3 times because his
bottom-dead-center creek was getting worse - the week before he borrowed my
torque wrench to tighten it. He was ready to turn around, but we found
grease exuding from one of his pedals - the pedal bearing was dry.

Get a sprung brooks saddle, it creaks all the time and covers up any other
creaks you might be hearing. Problem solved. :)
