Don't think I've seen this mentioned yet - there is a Rivendell Sam Hillborne featured in the Open Road Gallery in the July 2012 issue of Adventure Cyclist. Sounds like the owner was having a major advenutre. That's the type of photo and write-up that makes me yearn for a nice tour.
