Hello again! I spoke with Rich at Rivendell today, regarding a wheelset for my future Bombadil. He suggested XT hubs with either Mavic A319 rims or Velocity Dyads, in either a 32 or 36 hole configuration. I didn't ask him for what kind of spokes he'd use. The wheelset with the A319s is $430 and the wheelset with the Dyads is $400. He said the XT hubs were the best for the money, unless I wanted to pay several hundreds more.
Checking online, I can see the A319 is 25mm wide, good for tires up to 50mm; the Dyad is 24mm wide, so I guess it's about the same. Does anyone have any feedback or suggestions? Should I go 32 holes or 36 holes? Mavic A319 or Dyad? Any other hubs that would be significantly better than the XT hubs?
