I recently switched to starting from both ends and ending at the brale levers.
So long as I'm usng cloth tape and shellacing, I don't imagine I'll ever do it
any other way from now on - works great.

IIRC, Grant had an article in a long ago RR about taping bars.
I use a separate 3" strip around each lever and behind the bar -- hold it
on with a spot of glue or something -- and then wind tape around the lever
body from the bottom -- and hope that the roll is long enough. But I rarely
use cloth
I have the same basic setup... non aero levers on mustache bars. The
outcome of my wrapping might not be as clean as you'd like, but I used two
cheaters:

I've gone under the clamp before as well, so I can say that does work, but
I wasn't that careful this time.

I DID have a bit of a scary episode with my shellac. I wanted to check how
much I had and give it a stir, and when I barely applied pressure to the
lid with my opener it exploded off the can with a huge BOOM! I'
