The Elk Passes are the most wonderful road tires I've used, but at least on my rims (13 mm IW) a bit narrow (27-28 mm) for anything except the firmest and smoothest dirt surfaces. Wife & I did the Erie canal from Lockport to Pittsford. What little gravel was fine stone, no mud. Not a lot of flat hazards either. IT is much “tamer” then the GAP & C & O path. There were skinny tire bikers who seemed to be doing fine. Tho there is some lose gravel around the Fingerlakes On
