Although I hand drew my sprockets, there was some basic calculations involved
in finding out the size and correct teeth before starting to draw.
First, I set a maximum sprocket diameter that would let the tracks stay clear
of the upper hull. Lets say 4". The I figured the circumference, 4" x

I've seen this system before, I think the Russians made one a while back
too. I remember also that they made a water based version of that basically
in Scrapheap Challenge. So yea, the hollow barrels would work.

In fact I got inspired enough to work on my least-favorite (and
therefore slowest) part... assembling the tracks! That and actually

and awesome, but I can't get the online sprocket generator to make one

Speaking of adding things to the website, I suggest that we make all the
articles and maybe the link lists into a wiki. There isn't too much involved
in the setup, and it makes it so that we can have a much better knowledge
base.

Now that is a smart idea =D Along similar lines I import PCB patterns
into my circuit design software. Trace over it with the tracks and
then adjust or 'redesign' the circuit layout to suit my needs/

Thanks for all the info Chaps!
I spy 'inexpensive' markers =D An hours running and firing seems
adequate. I presume that using PWM speed controllers would give a
significant increase, subject to driving style, in duration? I don't
think I can afford the PWM method anyway but out of interest..
Really nice work, Derek !

I have been seeing how people build their rc tanks on RCtankcombat.com and want
to build my own. I plan on using 1/2 plywood to give shape to the tank then i
would use aluminum as armour. Does anybody have any suggestions on how i should
start.
Love it, but it says :- recomended age 8 - 12 Greg :0)

Im not sure Chrys but I do think the disks will have to be a greater
internal diamiter than the external diamiter of the tubes , however I
do think your idea is a good one because if the discs are the same
then the spacing along the tube will be the same ,
to keep weight down the tubes can be made
Yes, it's a Viewloader Charger. I got it cos it was cheap. They sold
me an electronic one cos they had run out of manual ones. That did not
work as well as you would expect- it needed an extra battery (9v) and
never seemed to work properly. Eventually it broke and i have

A gyro would help a lot. Every screw will have different traction depending
on the particularities of the terrain , and the gyro should correct
slippage.

Cheap markers - you'll probably be looking for a Spyder Victor or
