i already tried googling before posting here, if i could find any resources
on building smaller tanks, but unsuccesful.

There are lots of 1/16 scale metal track sets available on ebay depending on
what tank you want to make and some of the upgraders also then resell the
plastic tracks back onto ebay usually for about $25 aussie I put metal
tracks and metal gear boxes with larger motors on mt tiger tank but the
