Also, I believe OCLC is going to be converting old simple 502s into the more
granular version with multiple subfields. That was enough for my institution to
go ahead and adopt the new format.

How many patrons know what [s.n.] means, though? I see the value in
not tying ourselves to a particular language, but is an esoteric
abbreviation that will baffle Anglophone and Francophone patrons (for
example) alike really a good way to go?
