Special Collections and Formats Cataloger

Illinois State University's Milner Library and University Archives is seeking a 
cataloger with a focus in special formats, special collections, and archives. 
Reporting to the Head of Cataloging and Metadata Services, the Special 
Collections and Formats Cataloger is responsible for providing access to 
materials in Special Collections through archival processing, the creation of 
online finding aids, and traditional MARC-based original and complex copy 
cataloging. Formats include manuscripts, monographs, artwork, artifacts, 
photographs, born digital documents, etc.  In consultation with the Special 
Collections Librarian and University Archivist, the position is responsible for 
establishing processing and cataloging priorities and for determining 
appropriate levels of access and description for special collections materials. 
The position will represent the special collections and archives perspective in 
departmental planning activities, and the cataloging perspective in special 
collections and archive departmental planning. The position may provide 
training and guidance to cataloging staff on special collections and formats 
and may supervise project teams and student assistants.



This is a twelve month tenure-track faculty position as Assistant/Associate 
Professor. Milner Library faculty members have responsibilities in the areas of 
librarianship, scholarly and creative activities, and service as outlined in

Salary and Benefits: Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. 
24 vacation days and 11 paid holidays per year.

campus capital campaign plan -- all evidence of institutional commitment to 
excellence in its library. Illinois State is located in Normal/Bloomington, a 
growing community 2-3 hours from Chicago, Indianapolis, and St. Louis.
