Thank you for the reply Your suggestion worked like a charm. It was in fact
this issue where cygwin was not running as an admin user.
I've also subsequently tested the recent rdiffbackup's standalone exe which
works on my vista too.

Hi,
today's backup gave me the following message:
Warning: Attempt to rename over same inode:
/mnt/sdb1/backup/some/path/rdiff-backup.tmp.3491 to
/mnt/sdb1/backup/some/path/some_filename
Is it something I need to worry about?

I have backed-up a user home directory over time. I now need to restore
one (corrupted) subdirectory to the way it was a few days ago.
All the include/exclude instructions I can find only pertain to backup,
not restore. Isn't there a way to restore one small subdirectory
with-out
