Greetings,
I am having some difficulty restoring directories to a remote server.
This works fine restoring a single file to a remote server and works
fine restoring a directory locally Even trying to restore using the
"localhost::/path/to/dir" fails. Attached is a debug of a failed
restore
I am trying to backup my Linux laptop to a Windows share using rdiff-backup via
ssh. I am using the 1.2.6 version on both ends. The windows share is an ext3
formatted drive accessed by Windows through ext2ifs.
I get the following error when running rdiff backup.
> Using rdiff-backup version
Sorry, the error report above is incorrect. Here is what rdiff-backup tells me
to...@tommytop:~$ Bin/rdiffToChesed.sh
* Running Backup Script
Using rdiff-backup version 1.2.6
Executing ssh -C to...@chesed.homedns
I am trying to backup a Linux system (ext3) to a Windows system running Cygwin
and the latest version of rdiff-backup.
How can I prevent long filename errors like this one:
Processing changed file media/ntfs/Documents and Settings/Tommy
Keene/Documents/MdivDocsOnly/mdivNotComplete/WTS/Apologe

Tommy,
Which version of rdiff-backup are you using? 1.3.1 should have better
support for ignoring too-long filenames on Windows
I'm using I.2.6. I could upgrade to 3.1 in cygwin pretty easily. Ubuntu might
be more difficult.

Ah. So no chance that this will work, correct?
