I am trying to backup my Linux laptop to a Windows share using rdiff-backup via
ssh. I am using the 1.2.6 version on both ends. The windows share is an ext3
formatted drive accessed by Windows through ext2ifs.
I get the following error when running rdiff backup.
> Using rdiff-backup version
Sorry, the error report above is incorrect. Here is what rdiff-backup tells me

I am trying to backup a Linux system (ext3) to a Windows system running Cygwin
and the latest version of rdiff-backup.
How can I prevent long filename errors like this one:
Processing changed file media/ntfs/Documents and Settings/Tommy
Keene/Documents/MdivDocsOnly/mdivNotComplete/WTS/Apologe
I'm using I.2.6. I could upgrade to 3.1 in cygwin pretty easily. Ubuntu might
be more difficult.

Looks like I'm getting the same error with 1.3.1:

I get the following error using rdiff-backup. Backing up from Linux to Windows

Sorry, should have mentioned a couple of other details. The backup between the
systems works fine. What fails is checking the archive (-l) or removing old
backups (--remove-older-than).

I am backing up from a Linux laptop to a Windows desktop through ssh and
rdiff-backup running through cygwin. Using 1.3.2 on both systems. Everything
works great--backup, increments, etc.--unless a backup process is interrupted.
When that happens rdiff-backup must first regress to the next earl
I'm using the latest rdiff-backup (1.3.2) in cygwin to backup one ntfs folder
onto another ntfs drive. The backup and incrementing works great. But when it's
done backing up the folder is no longer accessible to me (Windows won't let me
open it). If I then run rdiff-backup with the --delete-old
I was not able to install either of those two python apps under cygwin. The
first gives me a "don't know your system" error and the second fails during a
gcc compile.

Ok, here it goes:
1. 1.2.7 behaves identically to 1.3.2
2. Running Vista x64 with latest cygwin.
3. icacls output on source:

Running rdiff-backup through cygwin, version 1.3.3. Runs great unless forced to
regress, at which point I get this error:
