Wrenches,
Who is stocking 100W, 12V solar modules? Thanks for your help.

Mick,

Is the testing yours or the customers?
Is it based on battery monitor readings or or individual modules or series

Wrenches,
We recently installed a grid-tie battery backup system using two Outback
GVFX 3648 inverters. The client has an existing Generac backup generator, 8
kW @ 240VAC. From the beginning we told the client that the power quality
from the Generac may not be within tolerance to integrate

I'd put my money on solar energy. I hope we don't have to wait 'til oil and
coal run out before we tackle
Orion,
If the Generac generator is running at 58Hz, it means that the engine speed is
about 120rpm too low (on a 3600rpm genny; half that for a 1800rpm unit). There
should be some sort of adjustment to the engine governor on the unit, but I'm
not familiar enough with the newer Generacs to know
Brian,
I believe the Generac is about 5 years old, definitely a later model. We
could not visually identify any adjustments that could be made to the rpm
rate. Although I should look closer into this to make sure as it would be
the easy fix, especially if the rpm's are electronically
You might want to have a look at how the telecommunications industry
supplies high current DC. Yours is a small load from their
perspective. They have some pretty advanced charging systems from the
perspective of control, diagnostics and communication. Typically this
type of equipment is
I am curious how you connect a generator to the GVFX? It only has one AC input
that us used for the grid.

Victron makes quality charger/DC power supplies work w/ that pos gen.
OB has never said that the GVFX would work in this application can set the OB
to start the gen after Bvoltage has dropped. Then the T switch would close on
AC output from the Gen.

hello wrenches,
i was wondering what you sea side, marine, and tropical installers have found
to be great modules and materials in ocean adjacent installations. I was
wondering about what decreases in life cycles one can expect, how tedlar holds
up, RHW/ cable tray issues, what frame issues
