FYI, Surrette now have their own version of the Hydro Cap. Haven't used them
yet and don't know if they are required to be removed prior to EQ like the
Hydro Caps. My experience with Hydro Cap has been good to date and waterings
are limited to every six months when we normally do our clients EQ's.
My understanding is that you have it correct, I also believe that this effects
condo's too.

Has anyone had any interaction with a company called Clean Energy Brands out
of Cheyenne, WY?
They claim to sell the Bosch Detec -100 & 150 but do not answer the phone or
return messages.
Does anyone have a source in the USA for the Bosch Detec -100 or 150?

Water miser caps and hydro caps are not the same thing except that they both
fit into the hole in the top of the battery.
I have not used hydro caps in years, too hard to deal with!
Take them off to equalise the battery bank? Thats when you need them

I stopped using Hydro-caps after replacing the umpteenth set that had melted

Bob,
That's true the "watermiser" caps don't recombine the escaping hydrogen. They
do however return almost 90% if the water and drops of acid back to the
battery. And the caps don't need to be removed during equalization. These are
the primary features we are looking for. The battery box still

Carl,
No, they don't.
Hydrocaps remove most of the free hydrogen from the air that is caused by
gassing. The Watermisers do not, however they do the same good job of keeping
the tops of the batteries clean ad the HCs.

Bill,
I agree with you about Hydrocaps and have mostly used them for nearly 20 years.
I do believe HP reviewed them sometime in the first 20 issues. Back when most

Two things to add:

"Watermiser" caps work the same way as the Hydrocaps and the caps do not need

Maybe one way to express it would be hydrocaps are great if you use the the
same charging parameters no matter what the age, condition of the battery is.
This seems to be critical to sizing the HCs properly. And you (or the "always
attentive and willing" customer) don't (doesn't) mind removing
Another person's opinion...
With all due respect, Allan, if you understand how the Hydrocap works (properly
sized, removal when equalizing, as detailed in the instructions) and use
distilled (or equivalent) water to top off the electrolyte much more
infrequently than regularly, Hydrocaps provide
