Hi Dave/Wrenches We've been using the SW with both the 2.5 and the 2.0 frames on most of our systems lately. The 2.0 frames work fine in traditional roof mounts, as long as the racking system chosen has good options for cable management. We did a DPW TPM with them last year where I came away in a

Phil, Their cycle rating is far less than Hups or Rolls when you compare specs. I understand their self discharge rate is atrocious requiring a substantial portion of the charging source(s) to be allocated just for this. I have heard the sales pitch that they last forever, but if you live off g

I don't know that there are any new sources for NiFe batteries and the last ones were either from China and Hungary. While they were advertised as new, some at least arrived in obviously used condition. They are reputed to be nearly indestructible, but I've seen piles of used recycled ones. They do

Dan, I agree, the batteries are a major factor here and as usual much can get lost in translation when details are left out. My bad, I'll try to bridge the gap a bit... What we have here is a complete up and running off-grid system; -the batteries are Surrette 2YS31P (2V each x 24 = 48V

i am not sure what the advantage is of running in HBX mode? why not simply grid-tie this where any surplus power (over local use) gets sold to the grid? also the vfx's can be sent into ob for upgrading to gvfxs. no need to buy new inverters. todd On Saturday, May 5, 2012 12:36p

Todd, I agree with using the gvfx inverters assuming he's generating more power then he is currently using. He said the system was sized for the current load so it seems like a waste to let such a large battery bank sit at full charge. Outback does upgrade the boards for free most of the time

It is a Colorado company, but they are importing them from China. I've met the owner. My understanding is the plates do not deteriorate, but the electrolyte needs to be replaced every 5 - 10 years, so technically you would never need another set, just KOH. Ray Walters On May 5, 2012, at 12:43

I have looked at these batteries and they are very expensive for the kWh I am also conserned with the charge/discharge rate.  I have a project that I am thinking of using these for, in that the kOH stays KOH through out the charge discharge, which meand they will not freeze like lead acid.  So f
