I find the rough percent breakdown as you suggest is useful in getting them to
understand that they don't need those numbers or an itemized BOM before they
agree to do a project. There are many customers that think if total cost is X

Wrenches
Its ironic this topic came up for me yesterday as well. As we have approached
the day where everything is online- pricing of our widgets from various
sources, its challenging for wrenches to not be transparent or to explain you
want to make X% margin on widgets.

This is all great stuff, and I would like to add one more "bon mot".
When I get into a situation where I am asked to break down my costs, or work
with a DIY client where they will purchase the hardware and have me install the
equipment...I gently steer the conversation to issues of quality of de

We are getting more and more people calling that want to provide their own
equipment and have us install it. It's frustrating, because usually they

It might be finding the voltage or frequency to high for itÂ’s liking.

For what it's worth, the Fluke is known to mistake harmonics for base
frequency. I would look to borrow for a scope or at least use a cheaper
meter that can accurately report the frequency. Try slowing the generator
to 59 Hz to see if the inverter likes it better.
