Most reasonable people don't expect you to work for free, so charge for the service at your normal and reasonable rate. If the customer desires to fix the issue themselves, most manufacturers have excellent support staff that will patiently help an end-user with getting their monitoring system goin

We're starting to tell clients that we'll come out and troubleshoot but if the problem is found to be with their internet connection we charge them for the service call. We're spending way too much time fixing monitoring systems for reasons described below. Thanks, Will _
