Wrenches I would like to see the LFP price come down in price, I have seen some cheap POS's coming out of China $3800 for a 10kWhr battery but they have very little surge capability so the LBCO shuts down the inverter, Blue Planet seems to be holding on their price, Have not heard anything

[RE-wrenches] lithium battery cost

2020-07-24 Thread jay
I want to ask about the cost of lithium batteries. Tesla seems to be telling the market that LFP batteries are way cheaper than NMC, and that they are switching to LFP, at least in China. From what I see in the marketplace that’s a lie. So I want to know from the lithium experts what they

Ours were all early versions of their HD Wave inverter, strictly residential. All of our earlier A series have been quite reliable. Have not had issues with the optimizers themselves. Since we stopped using them we don't know if the newer(screenless) versions are any better. Hasn't been worth the

Jay, We’ve had lots of SE failures. Maybe not hundreds. Certainly dozens. Every level from small residential inverters to their 33 kW 480V units. And optimizers, though far fewer optimizers on a percentage basis. From an inverter perspective, the location doesn’t seem to have mattered

Statistically it seems unlikely that installers who have both installed a lot of the same equipment would have such different results. I’m wondering if there are some common issues with SE failures. We’ve heard now from numerous installers with lots of failures and others with almost none.

August, One quick note about your last sentence. I know you are talking about swapping black and red on an Enphase branch circuit, which is not a problem. However, landing L1 from string 1 with L2 from string 2 on a 2-pole breaker and vice-versa does matter. For correct OCPD operation, you need

We've installed lots of Enphase, SolarEdge, and the various string inverters over the years. As far as Enphase goes, our experience is not too far from what Jason described - we had thousands of the M190/M210 generation installed and experienced a very high failure rate. Our failure rate on those

Enphase's early failure rate was ridiculous, but we are finding that once the faulty M190's were swapped after the first few years, the ones that didn't fail have been relatively solid. In other words, let's say (unscientifically) 30% of the M190's on a job installed 10 years ago failed in the
