As per standard operating procedures there, the actual installation was
subbed out. I don't recall which subs they used on this job, but there was
more than one. Per their normal routine, one sub installs the racki
rotecting that one string
should open, and thus eliminating that string from the array. Why do you
think that the module level wiring contributed?

They are good to go @600V. Depending on vintage, they may be configurable
for 6 or 12 Volt in the J-box. You might want to consider going the 6V route
and only using 1 string. This would serve to keep your string voltage "up"
if you lose a module or two down the road. Either way, as mentione
n the load jaws. You will
need to get them to buy off on it, but most utilities will accept it, though
they may want to put a lock on it. The trick is getting your neutral
conductor routed through it.
